Can I Use My Insurance?

Gatewell Therapy Center offers a full range of therapeutic and consulting services, including individual therapy, couples and family therapy, group therapy, nutritional assessment and counseling, and supervision and consultation. Treatment is evidence-based and customized to fit individual need.

Gatewell is an out-of-network provider for most insurance companies. We understand most individuals are looking for the most affordable care they can find. However, in the areas of eating disorders, addictions, trauma, CBT (and ERP), and DBT, it is difficult to find trained, certified, and evidence-based providers who accept insurance. That is the reality of the mental-health landscape in metropolitan areas such as Miami and New York City.

We are highly trained, highly specialized providers who choose not to work directly with insurance companies due to poor reimbursement and the constraints they impose on how we work. Participating with insurance companies requires regularly submitting information to them that can compromise your anonymity and privacy; in fact, they can request access to your entire record. The time completing this paperwork is, in our minds, better spent on  continuing to hone our knowledge and skills so that we can better help you. We hope you will appreciate that our interventions aim to be effective in the most time-limited way, hopefully preserving your resources in the long-run.

Your Gatewell therapist can provide you with a “superbill” to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement, depending on your plan benefits. You might also choose to use the app, Reimbursify, which helps you pursue reimbursement for services via a  nominal fee. It is wise to check with your insurance provider beforehand to understand if you have out-of-network benefits, what your deductible is, and what percentage of services they will cover. If you do not have out-of-network insurance benefits, you may be able to pay for treatment using pre-tax dollars via an HSA of FSA account. Select Gatewell providers offer reduced fees based on financial need. Please contact us for more information.
