Karina Luis (she/her/hers) is a second-year graduate student in the mental health counseling program at the University of Miami. She provides individual therapy and helps co-facilitate Gatewell’s DBT skills groups. Karina brings a wealth of knowledge to her role at Gatewell, with a background in psychology, sociology, and women’s and gender studies and prior experience assisting in teaching undergraduate psychology students. Her area of interest lies in working with individuals experiencing anxiety and mood disorders, with a deep commitment to understanding the complex social and cultural factors that contribute to these conditions. Karina is also interested in eating disorders and body image concerns and is familiar with the Body TrustⓇ paradigm. She works to empower and increase self-esteem in people of all ages, providing a supportive and compassionate environment that fosters growth and healing. Karina is Cuban-American and able to provide therapy in English and Spanish. In addition, she is trained to provide an LGBTQIA+ safe zone, ensuring that every individual she works with feels seen, heard, and valued. Karina’s work is directly supervised by Dr. Stacey Rosenfeld.
